Rainy Days

April showers bring May flowers.

Here's a pattern that I'm working on. I believe it needs more tweaking in its arrangement.
If you have any pattern making secrets please share :) I would love it!
I really need to figure out a good way to flip the images, but not have the same images too close to each other in the design.

Maria!

This is my version of my best friend Maria in 5th grade.
They did not do a good job in positioning her for this shot!

I think I blinked...

So Maria and I have decided to do a little series together. I'm going to create characters when they're younger in their school pictures and then Maria will go back and do them in their High School years in her style.

I'm looking forward to it! :)

Rhino!

The Detroit Zoo is holding a poster competition between the illustration kids at CCS.
I'm loving it because I get to draw so many animals, and I get to go to the zoo for free!

Here's a rhino.

San Francisco, I miss you.

here are a few highlight photos of my trip. (beautiful views, vegan food, and stackable pets!)

I had such a great time, I decided to move to San Francisco. I booked my plane for May 27th. I'll be staying in Hayward with Mark until I get on my feet and find my own place in the city.

I met some really great people and artists! Big thanks to the people who met up with me, and made my trip even better!
and you should really check their work too, AMAZING artists as well as great people.

San Francisco so far...

So I arrived in San Francisco on Wednesday around 1:30 pm. My friend Mark picked me up and we drove straight in to the city. I said "oh my god!" about fifteen times. I've never see "hills" before, and to me they see more like mountains. It's gorgeous out here. I can't get over the architecture, and the bright colored houses.
So far I've been all over San Francisco. I can't believe how steep some of the roads are, I was dying trying to walk up some of them, and then to look over seeing people slowing biking up them. Gah! intense bikers! I've eaten tons of yummy vegan food. Went to a place called Herbivore, a sandwich place called Love n' Haight, Zpizza (who had soy cheese, score!), and some other odds and ends.
This morning we went for a run on this trail in the hills. The view and scenery was beautiful, and the best part all the other people running and biking said "Good Morning!" to me. Sadly, I find that rare in Michigan. Seems like Michigan folk just avoid eye contact and saying "Hi" as much as they can.
And now I'm about to go Salsa dancing? I'm most likely going to fall a lot. I have no rhythm.

I've been sketching a ton. So when I get back I'll scan that in, as well as load up some pictures!
